| Who would benefit from Scripting? Gridgen & Pointwise's Tcl-based scripting language, Glyph, provides customization capabilities for both the experienced analyst and the "designing engineer". The experienced analyst will find that Glyph's commands cover the entire range of functionality available in the software's GUI, allowing tricks and special techniques to be captured and made part of the organization's intellectual property. Designing engineers will appreciate the fact that Glyph may be used to create customized meshing applications for specific configurations, allowing them to automatically generate a mesh and apply CFD.

| Applications:
•
Glyph Scripting was successfully applied to a submarine tailplane study by Defence R&D canada. A 6.5 million cell hybrid mesh was automatically generated for over 100 parametric variations. A tcl/TK graphical script was written for automatically meshing axial turbines. The Input window allows the user to easily modify the mesh, and some geometrical parameters such as the number of blades etc.. Other GRIDGEN scripting applications include automotive intake ports, torque converters, refrigeration cabinets, Formula 1 wings etc..... Via scripting, Gridgen has been used with design optimisation software tools such as ISIGHT & modeFrontier for applications in the aerospace and marine industries.
